What Is My Postal Code?
Press the button and your device’s location becomes your postal code — ZIP, PIN, postcode or Eircode, in whichever country you are standing in. No address to type and no account to create.
Your location is only used to find your postal code.

Why This Site Exists
A postal code is three seconds of information that usually takes five minutes to find.
Most tools start from an address
You type the street, pick the city from a dropdown, confirm the country you are plainly standing in — and only then does a code appear. That works at a desk. It is useless at a counter, in a town you reached an hour ago.
Your device already knows where it is
Maps, weather and ride apps all depend on it. The one piece of information needed to answer the question is sitting in your pocket — it just has nowhere to go.
So this site works the other way round
One button, one permission prompt, and the position your device already has becomes the postal code covering that spot. No address to type, no account to create, and no postal code list held here to search.
As precise as the fix you give it
A result describes the postal area around a point, so close to the edge of a delivery area the code can belong to the area next door. For anything consequential, check it against the postal authority.

What it does not do
Your coordinates are used for the lookup and for nothing else. No precise position is stored, no record is kept of where you have been, no profile is built, and your data is neither sold nor shared.
No signup needed
Use it straight away. There is no account to create.
Privacy first
Your location is used to find the code and for nothing else.
Quick to answer
A code in seconds, as soon as you allow the prompt.
How It Works
Get your postal code in just three simple steps — and you stay in control of every one of them.
Allow location access
Nothing happens until you ask for it. Your browser requests permission only after you press the button — never on page load.
Your device finds its position
Your browser works out where you are from GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile signals. That stays between you and your browser until you allow it to be sent.
Get your postal code
Those coordinates become the postal code covering that spot, along with the city and state. We do not keep your precise position.
Why Use GetMyPostalCode
Instant GPS detection
Your postal code in seconds, read straight from the position your device reports.
Simple and easy to use
One press. No address to type, no form to fill in and no account to create.
Works worldwide
Detection is not tied to one country — it works wherever the postal service assigns a code.
Privacy-focused
Your coordinates are used to look up a code and nothing else. We do not keep your precise position.
Find Postal Codes Around the World
Postal codes are named and formatted differently in every country. Pick yours for the local rules, format and examples.
Explore Postal Code Guides
One guide from every country we cover: plain-language explainers on how postal codes are built, what the parts mean and where address forms go wrong.
Why You Can Trust the Answer
No sign-up, no profile and no guesswork about where the data comes from.
Open data, credited
Results come from OpenStreetMap-derived data under the ODbL. The source is named on every result and in the footer, because crediting it is a licence obligation and not a courtesy.
What a lookup can and cannot tell youNothing runs until you say so
No location is requested until you press the button, and nothing optional loads before you consent — analytics stay off until you switch them on. Your precise position is never stored or logged.
Read the privacy policyGuides checked against the source
Every factual claim in the guides is checked against USPS or the relevant postal authority before it is published, and the guides carry an editorial byline rather than an invented author.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my postal code?
Press Detect My Postal Code. Your browser asks your permission, works out where your device is, and that position is turned into the postal code covering it, along with the city and state. There is no address to type and no account to create.
Do I have to allow location access?
Yes. The whole lookup is based on where your device reports it is, so without that permission there is nothing to look up. Nothing is requested until you press the button — the page never asks on load.
Is my location stored?
Your precise position is never stored and never written to a log. A rounded version of the coordinates, accurate to about 110 metres, is kept as a cache key with its postal code so an identical lookup does not have to be repeated, and it is deleted automatically after the period our geocoding provider permits. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is kept and for how long.
Can I look up the postal code for an address I type in?
No. This site has no postal code database and no address search. It answers one question only: what is the postal code for the spot your device is standing on right now.
Does it work outside the United States?
Detection does, anywhere the postal service assigns a code to where you are standing. The country pages, which explain the local format and its rules, are published one country at a time — the ones that are ready are listed above.
How accurate is the result?
As accurate as the position your device reports, which is less precise indoors, among tall buildings, or when it is working from Wi-Fi rather than a clear satellite fix. Near the edge of a delivery area the answer can belong to the area next door, so check it against an official postal source for anything that matters.
What we do with your location
Your coordinates are used to look up a postal code and nothing else. We do not store your precise position and we do not build a profile of you.
