Editorial policy
How the guides on this site are researched, written, reviewed and corrected.

What we publish
We publish explanatory guides about postal code systems: how codes are structured, what their parts mean, how they are assigned, and the practical problems people hit when using them. Each guide exists to answer a specific question. We do not publish pages that restate another guide in different words in order to have more pages.
Sourcing
Factual claims about a postal system are checked against the authority that runs it โ USPS for the United States, and the equivalent body for each other country โ or against primary government and statistical sources. Where a figure or rule is likely to change, we say when it was checked. We do not cite other content sites as authorities for postal facts.
Use of AI
We may use AI tools while drafting or editing. No draft is published on that basis alone: a person reviews every guide before publication, verifies its factual claims against the sources above, and is accountable for what it says. AI is not used to generate guides in bulk.
Bylines and dates
Every guide carries a byline, the date it was published and, where it has been revised, the date of that revision.
Guides currently carry the byline of the editorial team rather than of a named individual. That is an accurate description of how they are produced, and we prefer it to inventing a writer with invented credentials โ a practice common enough on content sites to be worth ruling out explicitly. Where a guide is written by a named person with relevant expertise, it will carry their name instead.
Corrections
If a guide is wrong, we fix it rather than quietly deleting it. Substantive corrections are noted on the page, and the review date is updated. To report an error, use the contact page and tell us the page, the claim and ideally a better source.
Independence and advertising
The site is intended to be funded by advertising. Advertising is kept visually separate from editorial content, and advertisers have no input into what we publish or how a topic is covered. We do not accept payment for a link or a mention inside a guide. If sponsored content or affiliate links are ever introduced, they will be labelled as such.
Accuracy of the tool itself
Our guides are explicit that a location-based lookup is an approximation and that official sources should be used for anything consequential. We will not overstate what the tool can do. See the disclaimer.
