The operating entity, the governing law and the jurisdiction for disputes are not named in these terms. That is not an oversight: naming them before they are settled would mean inventing a legal identity, and a term invented for appearances is worth nothing to you. They will be added before the site is promoted publicly, and the review date above will change when they are.

Everything else below describes the service as it actually operates today.

Use of the service

GetMyPostalCode is free to use and needs no account. You may use it for personal and commercial purposes, subject to these terms.

No guarantee of accuracy

Postal code results are produced by converting a device-reported position into a postal area using a third-party geocoding service. They may be wrong, out of date, or may describe a neighbouring postal area — particularly close to a boundary, or where your device reports an imprecise position.

Results are provided for general reference only. You are responsible for verifying a postal code against an official source before relying on it, and we accept no liability for loss arising from an incorrect result. See the disclaimer for detail.

Availability

We make no promise that the site will be available or uninterrupted. It depends on third party services, including a geocoding provider and a hosting platform, any of which may fail or impose limits. We may change or withdraw features at any time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• send automated or bulk requests to the site or its lookup endpoint;
• attempt to circumvent the rate limit or other technical restrictions;
• use the site to build or extract a postal code dataset;
• extract or reproduce the site’s written content in bulk without permission;
• use the site in a way that breaks any applicable law, or the terms of the underlying geocoding provider or the open data licences its data is published under.

The lookup endpoint is rate limited per visitor, and access may be restricted further where use appears abusive or automated. We would rather the tool stayed free and usable than spend our provider allowance on scrapers.

Intellectual property

The written guides, design and code of this site belong to its operator. Postal code data and geocoding results originate from third parties and remain subject to their own terms and attribution requirements, which are credited where they apply.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The review date above shows when the current version was last changed, and continuing to use the site means accepting the version then published.
